Hey!

I’m Nik Higgins. I’m originally from Manchester and currently live in London, UK. I have got two siblings and five nieces and nephews.

I am the Founder and CEO of doris, a marketplace that matches families and international schools.

I did an undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford and a postgraduate degree in Contemporary Literature, Cuture, and Theory at King’s College London. After that I worked in Further and Higher Education. My first start-up, The Ambassador Platform, was acquired by IDP Education, an Australian listed company (ASX:IEL) in 2023. Over the years I have also done bits of writing, various creative projects, and a couple of other business ventures.

I am interested in business, education, literature, history, social mobility, hip hop, space, mental health, and travel. I also enjoy having a beer, when I get the chance.

If I’m qualified/ able then I’m really keen to help out new founders. I think the start-up world is largely comprised of people spouting hot air. So, if you’re a young person or just setting up your first company, and need some practical, no-nonsense advice then please feel free to drop me a line.
